EHS Baseball Goes 3-1 In Their Own Tourney.

The EHS Baseball Team competed in their own Everman Tournament this past weekend, Feb. 23rd – 25th. The tourney was a round robin format with the guys taking 2nd place. In their first game, the guys played Fort Worth Diamond Hill easily out slugging the Eagles 11-0. Sammy Vargas had a complete game 2 hit shut out. He had 7 strikeouts and gave up only 2 walks. Eddie Montanez had 3 hits including a double. Sammy Vargas also had 2 hits with Cameron Taylor adding 2 more of his own. Ruben Cadena ripped a double off the wall to complete the barrage of scoring. 

The next day, (Friday) the guys played an afternoon game vs. the visiting Palo Duro Dons. The Dons won the pitching duel 3-0. Both teams combined for only 7 hits through 7 innings, but Palo Duro managed a run in the 1st, 4th, and 7th innings. Edward Montanez had 5k’s (strikeouts) and gave up only 1 hit through 4 innings. 

Later in the day, the Dogs took the field again to face the Lake Worth Bullfrogs. Taylor Sumpter and freshmen Alex Gonzales had 3 hits apiece with Alex also having 4 RBI’s (runs batted in). Junior, Ronaldo Flores had 2 more hits as Taylor who pitched went the distance to get the win 11-5. 

In their final game on Sat., Everman crushed Dallas Pinkston 11-1. They were led by 4 hits by Sammy Vargas and 3 hits by Taylor Sumpter including 2 triples. This puts their overall record at 3-1 so far this season.

The Dogs will get back on the field again as they travel to the Kennedale Tournament on March 2nd – 4th.
