Everman High School Boys Basketball tryouts will be from Aug. 16th – Aug. 24th. A student trying out for boys basketball must have a completed physical packet with a passed physical from his or her doctor. It must be turned in to our trainer Clayton Marshall who will sign off on the completed form. If he has not approved the packet the student is still not able to try out for basketball.
Tryouts will be during 1st / 5th period athletics for all potential basketball players. The student must have 1st and 5th period athletics on their class schedule to try out. If a student starts classes on Thursday, Aug. 16th without 1st or 5th period athletics and wants to try out for basketball, they need to immediately come see Jay Mathieson (Head Boys Basketball Coach) or one of the other high school basketball coaches (Marcus Smith or Elliot Charles).
On Friday Aug. 24th, a list will be put up on the boys basketball locker room door of who will still be in the basketball athletic period. If the student’s name is not on the list, he did not make the team.
We will have a 2nd tryout out for existing boys basketball players that are in 1st or 5th period athletics after football season is over. The football players will tryout with the basketball players to see who makes the team for the season. It is possible that the boy’s that have been in 1st or 5th basketball athletic period may not make the team when the football players try out. Those guys will then be transferred to 1st or 5th period Physical Education class or another Academic class. The football players that tried out and did not make the basketball team will go back to football off season.
